8. Tell us about G’hi Energy
That G’hi energy is a bar that fills up when players are around other people. The longer you play around others; you will accumulate what is called G-Buffs. These buffs are passive and are there all the time, however the longer you are with others the stronger your buffs are. For example if you G-gauge is at 85% then your buffs will function at 85%. So, if you hang around other people you essentially recharge the battery that drives those powers. This encourages grouping and hanging out in social places. If you are a solo player you might want to come to town to recharge your G’hi Energy and be tougher, but you don’t have to.
9. Tell us about the Training Sequence.
You begin your training sequence on you guessed it: A Train! You will learn your game basics like movement, dialogue, and quest stuff…but it very quickly becomes a ‘runaway train’ situation. You have to disconnect the automan system and manually throw the break on the train before you get to the end of the line. Once you complete that, we move you onto some fun combat training and some baby quests in a Newbi-only area, where only other Newbies exist. Once you complete your training you can move into the sewers, where you will see other players and you can remain there for as long as you want. When you are done with the sewers and are comfortable with the game you move into Bartontown and you can never return. So it always stays a permanent newbie-friendly area.
10. Is there any talk about Pets coming?
We have some features that we are very seriously ‘glued’ into for after release. They will be very cool as a monster-possession kind of feature that will open the door for pets. We will definitely have pets it’s just a matter of time.
11. Craig what is your favorite part ofgaia gold?
Gaia allows players to explore their identity and who they want to be. They can be more than they are in the real world. People come to play, but they stay because they met their best friend!”
David Georgeson says “One of the reasons I particularly like the gaia goldis because it lets us do so much. We are not locked into elves and dwarves or sci-fi. We can do all kinds of things. We make puns about topical stuff and referential humor. We have things like instead of a mini-map we have a GPS…all things like that. It makes it feel more contemporary.”
Craig Sherman says “Two years ago, we asked the members of Gaia (who also came up with the name “Gaia” itself. In Greek it means Goddess of the Earth) what they wanted most. Their number one answer was an MMO and their number 2 answer was Pets.
