Ten Ton Hamster had the chance to sit down with some awesome people fromGaia Online to talk about their upcoming MMOG. They showed us some cool new screenshots and gave us lots more information to salivate over! It’s just enough of a teaser to keep us wanting more! Gaia online will be going into closed beta ‘extremely soon’ and have a full game launch by the end of this summer. Read below to catch all the updated info:
1. Tell us about the storyline behind the MMOG
It begins that as the player’s come into the game, there are these inanimate objects that have begun to come to life and nobody knows why. Things like stone carvings and statues, sand begins to form into something, and all kinds of crazy stuff.
2. How large is the world?
There are currently 16 areas in the world and there are other areas that are not on the map which can only be accessed by quests or missions. There will be more expansions packs after launch into lands that players know about as well as into lands they have never heard of. It is much bigger than we expected it to be at launch but it just kept growing and growing.
3. What makes gaia gold different from other MMOG’s?
Players will be able to do quests, defeat monsters, and get loot like other typical MMOG’s but there is a lot more to it beyond that. We have a 55% female and 45% male audience so we had to make it more than just a combat-driven game. So, there are a lot of socialized games like ones that you can play as a group, where there are tiles displayed on the floor and different people have to repeat the rhythm that was shown to them. There is also a golf game out in Village Green where there are monsters everywhere and players fighting all around you while you are trying to hit your golf ball. In addition there are sandtraps that spawn monsters while you are trying to hit your ball. All of these things are designed to get you around other players to form friendships and bonds.
